Marucci World Series Returns to Baton Rouge

On Wednesday night, our friends at Marucci Sports welcome 98 youth baseball teams to Baton Rouge to participate in the Marucci World Series, an invitation only event for their partner organizations all over the country.  The team at Marucci, with support from Visit Baton Rouge and Louisiana Office of Tourism have put together an awesome event and we’re looking forward to coming out again this year.

Kyle Ourso from Marucci shares this video ( with my LSU Sports Admin class when he visits us every semester, meaning I’ve seen it a couple dozen times (thank you Kyle for all your time!).  And yet it grabs my attention every time because the story is so remarkable.  We could not be any happier for the success Marucci has had and we’re grateful this great company is right here, homegrown in Baton Rouge, LA.

We’re looking forward to another great week of baseball and we highly encourage you to come and take part in the festivities on Wednesday night in LSU’s Alex Box Stadium.

Speaking of remarkable experiences at LSU, the 2018 Tiger 10k registration begins at noon on Monday, July 23.  We’re so fortunate to be able to bring this event to the Baton Rouge community through our partnership with LSU Athletics and FRESHJUNKIE Racing.  There will be some tweaks to the 2018 event and we always strive to bring participants in all our events the very best experience that we can.  Keep up with all the info on Tiger 10k by Liking us on Facebook and be sure to get registered on Monday!

Lastly, our SportsBR team will soon be opening registration for our newest program, the SportsBR Kids Club.  We want to do everything we can to encourage kids to get out and be as active as they can, as early in their development as we can.  Kids Club allows parents to sign up their kids to participate in our Battlefield Cross Country Public Race, the Tiger 10k Fun Run and the Mardi Gras Mambo Fun Run for only $25 (value of $70).  We’re also going to throw in a SportsBR t-shirt and some other fun items for kids throughout the year.  Make sure you’re setup on the SportsBR Newsletter list and Like Us on Facebook to get all the details on the Kids Club!  Registration will begin on August 13.

Busy Season!

We are often asked about what time(s) of year we are busiest here at SportsBR and as most would expect, spring and summer are our biggest event seasons here in Baton Rouge.  And when we add new events to that mix we end up with a very busy time of year!

Between now and mid August, our city will host a number of large scale events, some for the first time.  The end of June brings us the Gumbo of Ballroom DanceSport Championships, a USA Dance national qualifying event that brings adults from 30+ states to participate in 3 days of competition at the Crowne Plaza ballroom.

Mid-July brings a busy weekend where we host both the USA Track & Field Masters Outdoor Championships as well as the TCS Marucci Southern Softball Championships.  Volunteers are needed at the USATF Masters Championships

Baseball reigns the last weekend in July as our friends from Marucci Sports host the Marucci World Series bring in 48 of the best baseball teams and players in the country to compete at 8 sites in the area.

Lastly, LSU's Tiger Park will host National Pro Fastpitch Championships the weekend of August 17-20.  The best fastpitch softball players in the world will be in Baton Rouge to battle it out for a chance at a NPF Championship.  Tickets are on sale at

Thank you to all our facility partners, sport coordinators and sponsors of these events for bringing them to Baton Rouge.  We particularly thank our SportsBR Varsity Partners for their support of what we do.
